竹中大工道具館　

新神戸駅のホームからも臨める立地に

消えてゆく大工道具を民族遺産として収集・保存し、さらに研究・展示を通じて後世に伝えていくことを目的とし、また、ものづくりの国に生きる楽しさ、素晴らしさ、新しい気づきに満ちた道具との出会いの場となり、　伝統のものづくりに新たな刺激を与えるような存在でありたいとの願いから、竹中工務店が【大工道具館】を開設しています。

展示は７つのコーナーに分かれ、大工道具をめぐる世界の広がりと豊かさを感じていただけるようになっています。大工道具の歴史や種類、仕組みを紹介する「歴史の旅へ」「道具と手仕事」「世界を巡る」、道具や手仕事の美を感じていただく「名工の輝き」「和の伝統美」。ものづくりの心を棟梁の仕事を通して伝える「棟梁に学ぶ」。木を十分にいかす知恵の数々を見ていただく「木を生かす」。そして、より多くの人に新しい道具との出会いの場を・・・という想いから、映像、音声ガイドシステム、木の香りを嗅ぐ、実際に触れることのできるハンズオン展示など「五感に響く」展示が充実してます。
